Warm rocks

I painted this scene during the Hudson River fellowship this year. This one was painted by a stream in the woods, when the heat forced me to escape into the slightly cooler shade under the canopy. I had a few sittings (standings) with this one, trying to push the detail and contrast of the painting. I love painting rocks.
